Quote

Long time, no post.

However time has a come for a new one as this gem of a quote appears in Joy's status message:

" We can’t control the world, but we can control how we think about it."

The sheer depth of this statement leaves me floored.

Arbitness!

I just found out the something totally wacky and embarrassing. So as usual its time to blog about it!

To share my state of enlightenment, do the following steps:

1. Enter www.google.com into the address bar of your browser

2. Enter the words "homomallu" into the search bar.

3. Click on the " I am feeling lucky" button.

4. You will understand why I hate google search right now ( them and their stupid search algorithm, bullshit I tell you!)

P.S. If one of the dastardly readers is wondering how I found out about it in the first place, well, rest assured I was not googling for "homomallus". The sitemeter had recorded it as one of the ways people reached my humble old blog. Well, as they say, there is no such thing as bad publicity!

PPS: This has turned out to be a self fulfilling prophecy. :O

Today I "plucked" oranges from a tree and ate them. Yaay!

Snowed Out

Walking on a lonely road amongst evergreen trees, capped with snow, as the rays of the setting sun reflects a golden glow on the snow flakes by your feet .

The above statement is best enjoyed as a sentence on a piece of paper. Its not fun, especially the last 15 minutes of the hour long walk. Not fun at all.

Long time, no post, so here we go.

To start, those six letters that was so definitive of everything that I was for the past 4 years is no longer a reality. I miss my old life, friends and the identity that it provided me with. Then again, going along the lines of the second question in this article, time transforms not only your surrounding, but you "the person" as well. So me missing my past is about as realistic as me "missing" Brad Pitt's life. Pointless, both of those thoughts are.

Philosophically, I have kind of reached a stale-mate with my own arguing self. The fourth question in the aforementioned article is something that I have written about and thought about for many wasted lenghts of time. The fact that its not just me is mostly certainly comforting.

The never ending serials that has often given me company and solace throughout days and nights have taken a back seat. Its been more than 6 months since I productively utilized an entire day (and night) watching episodes after episode. A friend of mine recently called me a "TV junkie" for watching one episode per day. Hearing this, The Grand Father of all Knowledge is, I am sure, laughing his big fat brain out.

Ok, meanwhile, as all human beings know,a financial, economic and social crisis have hit our economies, banks and soceities. A combination of fate and fortune ( I really dont know which) ensured that I was the spectator and not a gladiator in the ensuing saga. I like movies; being the spectator is good. You can choose sides and explore all the emotions, still retaining the option to leave the hall unscathed. More on this later.

More recently, this news and this news had been a source of great pride for me. That was until this news appeared and now I am eagerly waiting for one more to wrap up all that pride and put it into a dumpster. Cheers to co-patriots.

Deal

At the time of writing this post, there is 19 hours and 23 minutes left for the vote of confidence in the parliament. Owing to the numerous Indian news channels that has sprung up in recent times and the lack of more exciting news for them to convey, I think I have seen and heard enough about the nuclear deal and respective stances of the different political parties. In the end, I am left rather confused and politically dislodged.

I have always been a closet-supporter of the BJP when it comes to national politics. The reason being that BJP came across as the more progressive, pro-capitalisitc and liberal among the lot. They did a lot of things to further globalization and privatization during their rule. And also I was kind of narrow-minded when it came to the issue of an Italian-born heading the Indian government ( the stress is on " was"). So going by their own traditional disposition towards such matters, the BJP should be more for the nuclear deal than even the Congress. Indeed Mr. Advani himself has stated that if they come into power, they wouldn't say a blanket no to the nuclear deal but re- negotiate the deal with U.S. So what is it that has led them on this path of teaming up with the " Left" and to so vehemently oppose a deal which, in the opinion of most experts, is good for the country? There is no answer left other than a most despicable opportunistic attitude and a gluttonous desire for power.

The recent happenings in the parliament has left me wondering if there is any ideology whatsoever left in the Indian politics. The Communists call themselves the "left" for all the right reasons. They are simply never " right" by any definition of right. Communism has been proven as a falied ideology and even few of the surving practisers ( like China) have revamped their ideology to suit development in the modern world. However in India we are left with a group who are still stuck on the age-old Soviet theories and insist on following them to the minutest detail. They are " against" capitalism, " against" privatisation, " against" profit initiatives of any kind and believe whole heartedly in a gaurdian government ( nanny-state) whose duties are to protect its citizens from all the "evil" external influences. Thus the BJP and the " Left" are idealogically pretty much the very opposite of each other. On top of this, when the religious inclination is factored in, its pretty clear that there is no way whatsoever that BJP and the " Left " can ever call themselves allies. But still they have agreed to "work together" to oppose the deal and bring down the government. To this I say, BJP has sold its soul to the devil.

The congress as it is now, is probably the best it has ever been. My personal respect for Mr. Manomohan Singh has grown exponentially over the past weeks as he proved to the country and to the world that he was truly a leader. Even Sonia Gandhi has proved her mettle by supporting the prime minister on this core issue and backing his judgement to the fullest. This is the sort of government we need, a government which trusts its nominated executives to make the right call and support them in times of crisis. As the Prime Minister of India, it is the decision of Mr. Manomohan whether to go ahead with the deal or not. If the "Left" did not have trust in his ability to make such decisions, they should have never supported him in the first place. To nominate a person to a position of responsibility and then strip him of all his powers is the most abominable thing that a political party can do. It leads to the kind of administrative stale mate that has often gripped our country in recent years.

Coming to the new buzz word in Indian politics " Mayawati". She is the one who first publicly proclaimed that the nuclear deal is against the interest of Muslims in India. Only a true visionary can decipher the religious side of something as non religious as the nuclear deal. And in due regard and appreciation for such great vision, some politicians are now projecting her as the future prime minister. Such joy awaits us all.
